Young Pioneers' Propaganda Contest for Railway Protection

(Baonghean.vn) -Today, November 2, at Dien Ky Secondary School, Dien Ky Commune, Dien Chau District, Vietnam Railway Youth Union - the Standing unit of the Steering Committee of the Railway Protection Youth Movement, in coordination with the National Traffic Safety Committee and Nghe An Provincial Youth Union, organized the 2012 Railway Protection Youth Propaganda Contest.

Attending the contest were representatives of the National Traffic Safety Committee, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union, Department of Education and Training, Youth Union of Vinh area railway units, teachers and many students from 10 secondary schools in Dien Chau district where the railway passes through.

The contest was organized in the form of the Golden Bell program. 100 students were selected from 10 secondary schools. The contest was exciting with enthusiastic cheers from the students, after the students' question-answering session was the teachers' rescue session. At the end of the contest, Tran Thi Loan - a student of class 8A, Dien Ky Secondary School won first prize with an impressive performance, she answered 28/30 questions, the prize was worth 500,000.

Comrade Duong Van Thu - Secretary of the Vietnam Railway Youth Union - Head of the organizing committee of the contest: "The Steering Committee chose to promote to the people and especially the students in improving their understanding of the railway traffic safety law in the form of dramatization so that they can easily absorb it, thereby improving the effectiveness of the propaganda. Through the contest, it has initially created positive effects on the people."

Comrade Hoang Van Chuong, Dien Chau District Police: “There are 12 communes in the area with railways and 56 civilian level crossings, but only 6 have barriers. Meanwhile, people's understanding of railway protection is limited. The contest has practical significance for railway safety protection, raising awareness for people and students. Similar propaganda models need to be further expanded.”

Student Tran Bich Phuong - class 8A, Phung Chi Kien Secondary School: "I feel very happy to participate in the contest. We have been practicing for about a week and feel that our knowledge about traffic safety has improved. Even though we did not win, I feel that participating in the contest is a way to learn...".
