Today, the second round of university and college admissions is considered: Only non-public schools remain.
Today, August 26, candidates begin the second round of university and college supplementary admissions. However, the only chance for candidates to get into university this time is at non-public schools, because public schools have almost reached their enrollment quota.
In addition, in this second round, candidates will no longer have to wait tiredly for 20 days like in the first round to know the results, but this time, the time has been shortened to only 10 days. However, many schools are worried about the appearance of "fake" phenomena.
Only space left in private schools
According to the new admission announcement of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, this school has about 3,400 admission quotas for NVBS for all majors with a score of 15 points for university level and 12 points for college level. For Pharmacy, this school has a score of 18.75 points, equal to the previous admission score. In addition, in parallel with NVBS admission based on the results of the National High School Exam, this school continues to accept applications for university and college admission based on high school transcripts.
According to the school representative, “This year, the school is allowed to train 3 new majors including Architecture, Economic Law, and Human Resource Management. In addition, most majors still have 50% of their quotas, so there are still many opportunities for candidates who failed NV1 recently.”

In this additional admission application round, candidates will no longer have to wait as wearily as in the first round. |
Also in the recent NV1 recruitment round, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance only recruited about 1/3 of the school's quota (about 400/1,000 quotas), so in this NVBS recruitment round, the school still has about 700 quotas in 7 university majors and 6 college majors. Of which, for the university system, the Business Administration and Information Technology majors have an admission score of 15 points, while Marketing, Economic Law, Banking and Finance, Accounting, and English range from 16-17 points.
In addition, the school also applies both high school transcript and national high school exam results. With the above two methods, Van Hien University, Ho Chi Minh City also announced to recruit more than 1,000 students. In particular, candidates who graduated from professional secondary schools, vocational secondary schools, colleges, and vocational colleges will be considered for recognition of the courses they have studied to shorten the training time.
As for Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, according to the announcement of NVBS admission round 2, this school has 2,100 quotas for training majors. Admission scores for university level are from 15 to 17 points (depending on major) and 12 points for all majors in college level.
Similarly, Hoa Sen University also announced that there are still NVBS quotas in some majors. Mr. Hoang Duc Binh, Director of Communications and Admissions of the school, said: “The school's NVBS quota is in the Articulation programs and majors such as Science and Technology, Graphic Design - Interior Design - Fashion, Hotel Management and some Economic majors such as Marketing, Human Resource Management, Accounting.
The NVBS admission score is the same as the NV1 admission score announced earlier”. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry this year only recruits NVBS in the second round for the two branches in Gia Lai and Ninh Thuan. However, the school only recruits candidates with permanent residence in the Central and Central Highlands provinces.
Worried about "fake news", confused about choosing a career...
According to the new dispatch sent to universities, colleges, and departments of education and training regarding the adjustment of the admission time on August 24, the time for registration and announcement of admission results for the next admission rounds will be reduced from 20 days to 10 days.
In particular, in the additional admission rounds, after registering for admission to the school, candidates are not allowed to change their wishes and are not allowed to withdraw their application to transfer to another school.
"The fact that candidates continue to have 4 wishes on one registration form and have the right to register for 3 different schools at the same time will cause a huge "illusion" for the schools."
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Anh, Head of Consulting - Admissions - Communications Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that the Ministry's shortening of the admission time will create convenience for both schools and candidates. "Shortening the admission time will help candidates no longer have to wait tiredly for results, will know whether they pass or fail the university entrance exam faster, and schools will also be proactive in enrolling on schedule, the opening ceremony will also be more synchronized...".
However, Mr. Anh is concerned that there will be a “virtual” phenomenon appearing at schools in the second round of NVBS registration. “The fact that candidates continue to have 4 wishes on one registration form and have the right to register for 3 different schools at the same time will cause a huge “virtual” phenomenon for the schools,” Mr. Anh said.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong, an admissions specialist from the Ministry of Education and Training, also noted that during the NVBS admission process, candidates are not allowed to withdraw their NV transfer application. “To be sure, candidates need to choose a major or school with a lower standard score than their exam score. Or candidates can start their favorite career with a college degree. It is likely that many schools that have considered NV in the first round have met their quota, very few schools will consider the next round, candidates need to be very careful when registering,” said Mr. Cuong.
