'Home' and the strong message about family love
As the first product of DreamWorks Animation released this year, "The Return Journey" is a touching film about friendship in the disaster of Earth being invaded.
“You never know who you’re going to meet, under what circumstances,” Jim Parsons, the voice actor for Oh, said about Home and the fateful encounters in the film. Inspired by the book The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex, Home tells the story of the unlikely friendship between a girl named Tip, who lost her family in a cataclysmic event on Earth, and her alien friend Oh. Revolving around Tip’s journey to find her mother and Oh’s adventure to save the Boov people, the two find trust, bond, and their own “homes.”

Still in the spirit of optimism, brightness, and looking towards the future, this film project by director Tim Johnson and DreamWorks continues to bring audiences joyful laughter in a colorful film. The plot is quite simple and coherent, not at all difficult for young audiences to follow. In addition, the profound meanings conveyed through the story: Where is home? Where do we belong? will satisfy adult audiences.

The creative creation of a new species - the Boov with twisted ears and skin that changes color according to emotions will surely surprise the audience because they have never seen it before. The shy, cute cat character, who seems "extra" in the story's development, is the character that the audience remembers the most. Some other lovely names such as Nho Oc To, Quyt Xoan Tit or Ke Rieu Thich Suyt... are also unique creations that bring cheerful and humorous colors to the film.
The presence of big names in the voice-over team also contributed to attracting significant attention to Tim Johnson's 3D animation project. He did not deny that having names like Rihanna (as Tip), Jim Parsons (as Oh) or Jennifer Lopez (as Lucy) was a great fortune. The people invited to voice in this film also felt honored and proud when sharing memorable emotions about the characters in the film.

The two main characters of the movie "Home" are voiced by Jim Parsons and Rihanna. |
Rihanna said: “Tip is a pretty grumpy, independent girl but sometimes very weak. Tip makes me think about myself. That's why I decided to participate in the film. I understand Tip's way of thinking, her weaknesses, her ambitions and her perspective on life.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez, through her experiences as a mother, became a great source of inspiration for director Tim Johnson in the process of creating the character Lucy. "One of the most emotional moments of the film was talking to Jennifer about her separated family and listening to her comments to stage the scene where Lucy and Tip reunited in the most touching way," Johnson said.
Using special technology - Apollo - in the visual effects design, the graphics of Home bring to the audience the same eye-catching experiences as seen in How to Train Your Dragon 2. The image of a car floating in the clouds or a sphere containing an upside-down Eiffel Tower becomes more vivid and intuitive than ever for viewers thanks to the support of this exclusive method from DreamWorks.
