More than 1,408 billion VND for poor households and policy households to borrow capital to develop production

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 20, the Board of Directors of the Provincial Bank for Social Policies held its 45th regular meeting. Attending the meeting were members of the Board of Directors, Comrade Le Xuan Dai, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Board of Directors of the Provincial Bank for Social Policies chaired the meeting.

In the first 9 months of 2015, the Bank for Social Policies has focused on prioritizing loans for poverty reduction and economic development in localities in the province, while rapidly increasing capital sources to support near-poor households in borrowing capital for production. In particular, it has implemented 2 new credit programs: Loans for households that have just escaped poverty and loans to support poor households in building houses to prevent floods, bringing the number of credit programs implemented in the province to 13 programs and the total loan turnover reached 1,408 billion VND, of which, the new investment capital for production development is 1,173 billion VND, serving over 39,100 households.

In addition, the Social Policy Bank continues to pay attention to meeting the capital needs of other groups of people to contribute to ensuring social security in the area with a capital of 235 billion VND lent to over 9,400 households, contributing to creating jobs for 1,200 people, 261 people working abroad, 800 families in difficult circumstances borrowing student loans for their children to go to school, nearly 11,000 households receiving loans to build and install clean water works, sanitation works...

Mr. Tran Khac Hung, Director of the Provincial Social Policy Bank, reported on lending results for poor households and policy households.

In addition to the achieved results, some credit programs still face difficulties, such as: The job creation loan program still has a backlog of 4.8 billion VND due to the inability to select loan projects; some districts have not approved the list of newly escaped poverty households; the review and compilation of the list of ethnic minority households with special difficulties is too slow, so disbursement is not possible; the quality of credit activities in Ky Son and Tuong Duong districts has changed slowly...

After listening to the members of the Board of Directors' Representative Board report on the coordination of the implementation of programs and projects funded by the Bank for Social Policies, comrade Le Xuan Dai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Representative Board, acknowledged and highly appreciated the results achieved by relevant levels and sectors in supporting, promptly resolving capital sources and collecting debts well. At the same time, he requested the members of the Representative Board to focus on directing the district-level Representative Board to coordinate with local authorities to promptly overcome shortcomings and effectively implement the assigned tasks in the fourth quarter. Continue to strengthen the Representative Board at all levels and have solutions to improve credit quality, strengthen the handling of overdue debts, especially focusing on communes with high overdue debts. Implement well the work of entrusted credit, manage the network of Savings & Loan Groups, determined to complete the 2015 plan.
