More than 10,000 people and 125 pieces of military equipment took part in the Victory Day parade in Russia.
At exactly 10:00 a.m. on May 9 (Moscow time, or 2:00 p.m. Hanoi time), the military parade marking the 78th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War took place on Red Square in Moscow, the capital of Russia. For the Russian people, Victory Day is always the most important holiday of the country.
Traditionally, a grand military parade took place on Red Square, with the participation of more than 10,000 military personnel, 125 units of weapons and military equipment. The parade was commanded by Russian Defense Minister, General Sergei Shoigu, Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces, General of the Army Oleg Salyukov.

President Putin delivered a speech congratulating all Russians, veterans and soldiers, officers of the Russian armed forces and participants of special operations on the 78th anniversary of Victory Day. The Russian leader stated that, like the vast majority of people on the planet, Russia wants to see a peaceful, free and stable future. President Putin accused the West of provoking bloody conflicts, spreading anti-Russian sentiment and aggressive nationalism.
President Putin affirmed that Russia always respects and remembers the achievements of its ancestors and deeply understands how to be worthy of their achievements. He mentioned those who are participating in special military campaigns, fighting on the front lines to protect Russia.
“You are protecting the security of the country. The future of the state and the people depends on you. You are honorably fulfilling your military duty - fighting for Russia. Behind you are your families, children, friends, they are waiting for you. I believe that you feel their boundless love for you. The whole country is united in support of our heroes,” President Putin emphasized.
President Putin affirmed that during the Great Patriotic War, their heroic ancestors proved that there is nothing stronger and more reliable than the unity of the country. There is nothing in the world stronger than love for the Fatherland.
He ended his speech with a shout: “For Russia! For victory!”
The parade then took place with two parts of military and equipment parade. This year there was no air parade.
After the parade in Moscow and several other cities of Russia, many patriotic activities will take place, such as presenting flowers and expressing gratitude to veterans who sacrificed their youth and blood to protect the Fatherland; laying flowers at memorials commemorating the feats of Soviet soldiers. In the evening, fireworks will be set off in Moscow, St. Petersburg and several other cities of Russia.
