More than 100 martial artists participated in the 2011 National Wushu-Taolu Tournament

The 2011 National Wushu-Taolu Championship opened on the morning of March 31 at Phan Dinh Phung Gymnasium, Ho Chi Minh City.

More than 100 martial artists from 12 provinces, cities and sectors across the country such as Ba Ria-Vung Tau, An Giang, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Phu Tho, Thai Binh, Police, Army... and host Ho Chi Minh City participated in this martial arts competition of Wushu.

According to experts, this year's tournament promises to be exciting, with the participation of many strong athletes, capable of competing for medals such as Duy Thanh, Hoang Nam, Anh Tuan (Ho Chi Minh City); Tra My, Manh Quyen, Mai Phuong (Hanoi); Thuy Vy (Police) and Tran Xuan Hiep of the Army.

At the 2010 national championship in the official competition program of the 6th National Sports Congress, the Hanoi delegation ranked first with 21 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 3 bronze medals.

Ho Chi Minh City delegation ranked second with 7 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals. With 4 gold medals, the Ministry of Public Security delegation ranked third.

According to the organizers, the tournament is an opportunity to evaluate the training and coaching of Wushu martial arts in the country; help athletes compete and gain experience, and also to select outstanding athletes to participate in international tournaments this year including: the Asian Youth Championship taking place in Shanghai (China) in August; the World Wushu Championship taking place in November in Türkiye and the 26th SEA Games taking place in Indonesia.

Right after the Taolu tournament, the Shanshou (sparring) competition of the 2011 National Wushu Championship will take place in Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province, in mid-April.
