More than 200 rare artifacts of traditional embroidery and weaving introduced to the public for the first time

(Baonghean.vn) - More than 200 artifacts, images, original and unique documents with valuable content and art about traditional embroidery and weaving were announced and displayed for the first time at Nghe An Museum, attracting many people to visit and learn.

On the morning of May 16, Nghe An Museum held the opening ceremony of the exhibition “The Quintessence of Traditional Weaving and Embroidery in Nghe An”. This is an activity to celebrate the 128th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2018) and the 2018 Sen Village Festival, and the 40th anniversary of International Museum Day (May 18, 1978 - May 18, 2018).

Accordingly, Nghe An Museum displays more than 200 artifacts, images, and documents, including many original, unique artifacts with valuable content and art that are being published for the first time. For example, the collection of ancient embroidered paintings, the collection of royal coffins of feudal dynasties, the collection of parallel sentences, horizontal lacquered boards... reflect the level and skillful weaving and embroidery techniques of Nghe An artisans.

The artifacts, images and documents are presented according to three main topics: Weaving and embroidery in the life of Kinh people in Nghe An; Weaving in the life of Thai people in Nghe An; Preserving and promoting the value of traditional weaving and embroidery to help the public have a more realistic and general view of the local handmade weaving and embroidery profession.

Coming to these works, viewers can clearly understand the basic weaving techniques and processes of traditional hand-woven embroidery. In addition, the public can also enjoy many famous hand-woven and hand-embroidered works such as: embroidered paintings of Pine, Chrysanthemum, Bamboo, Apricot; species of Dragon, Crane, Peacock, Phoenix... With only needles, threads and skillful hands, Nghe An embroiderers create products that bear the cultural imprint of the locality, of their people, of the soul and intelligence of the craftsman.

In addition to displaying ancient artifacts, the exhibition also brings traditional handicrafts and artisans closer to the community of interested people by experiencing Thai ethnic embroidery and weaving and chatting with artisans.

Through this activity, Nghe An Museum brings a message calling on people to raise awareness of the precious cultural heritages that our ancestors have passed down; at the same time, they have the responsibility to preserve and promote the heritage of traditional crafts and craft villages in the cultural life of the community.
