More than 300 tons of fish drifted away with floodwaters, Nam Dan farmers lost 15 billion VND
(Baonghean.vn)- About 300 tons of fish from the third crop and fish from ponds and lakes in Nam Dan district were swept away by the water during the recent days of heavy rain, causing an estimated loss of about 15 billion VND.

Mr. Phan Hong Linh in Hamlet 5, Nam Giang Commune, Nam Dan District has 6 acres of pond water used to raise commercial fish. Soaking in the flooded pond to spread a net to prevent fish from escaping, Mr. Linh said: The fish weighed 1 - 2 kg, and he expected to catch them for the market by Tet, but the water flooded the banks, about 7 tons of fish drifted out, leaving his family empty-handed.
Currently, the fields of Nam Giang, Nam Thanh, Hung Tien, Kim Lien, Nam Xuan communes... are flooded, meaning that many areas of third-season fish on two-season rice land have been completely lost, and farmers can only sit and watch.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh The - Head of the District's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: Up to now, the communes have reported the damage caused by floods. Accordingly, the damage to local agricultural production is estimated at about 20 billion VND.
The most serious damage was to the fish raised by the people. The whole district has 583 hectares of fish ponds and 315 hectares of fish farming for the third crop, with an estimated fish output of about 1,300 tons. Most of the fish farming area in the district has been flooded. It is estimated that the amount of fish lost due to flooding is about 300 tons, worth about 15 billion VND. The communes with the most damage are Nam Thanh (over 51 hectares), Hung Tien Hon (76 hectares), Kim Lien (over 85 hectares), Nam Xuan (nearly 50 hectares), Khanh Son (40 hectares)...
