More than 40 buildings damaged in horrific gas explosion in the US
Initial investigations show that more than 40 buildings were damaged in a gas explosion over the weekend that leveled a strip club in Massachusetts and injured 18 people.
The strip club was leveled.
A strip club was flattened while a childcare center was severely damaged in a massive explosion late Friday night in Springfield, one of the nation's largest cities.
Investigators were trying yesterday to determine the cause of the explosion, which could be heard miles away. The blast left a huge crater in the ground where the multi-story brick building, the Scores Gentleman's Club, once stood. Debris from the building was scattered for blocks away.

Authorities evacuated part of the entertainment district about an hour before the explosion after receiving reports of a gas leak. Gas company employees, police and firefighters, who had received warning signs that the club was about to explode, took shelter in a special truck. Most of the injured were in this group. The truck that rescued them was destroyed.
