India's health ministry said the country is showing signs of a resurgence of the H1N1 swine flu epidemic, with 407 deaths since the beginning of the year.
Of the 407 deaths, more than half were recorded in the first 10 days of February 2015.
More than 5,000 cases of H1N1 flu have also been detected across the country.
Faced with the above situation, the Indian government announced that it would conduct screening procedures to prevent the spread of the disease, especially vaccinating medical staff in contact with people infected with H1N1 flu.
A 70-year-old Swiss tourist died in the western Indian state of Raahstan after contracting the H1N1 virus, a health official said on Thursday.
The government of Rajasthan state, where 117 people have died from the virus, has also announced that doctors will not be allowed to work.
In the neighboring state of Gujarat, many people lined up outside hospitals to get tested.
It is known that in 2009, the H1N1 virus killed thousands of people and caused panic among people in Mexico.
A year later, in late August 2010, since the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a pandemic, the H1N1 virus had killed thousands of people worldwide.
