More than 600 'child soldiers' join the 2017 Military Semester

(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of June 25, the Provincial Youth Union coordinated with the Department of Education and Training and Military Region IV to organize the "Military Semester 2017" program's departure ceremony for more than 600 students.

Being the 7th year organized in Nghe An, the military semester program has affirmed its correctness and novelty, creating trust from parents and support from all levels, sectors and the whole society.

What is special, this 7th year, in addition to students from the city and neighboring districts, there are also students from mountainous districts such as: Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Que Phong, Quy Chau, Nghia Dan, Quy Hop, and even students from other provinces from Ha Tinh and Hanoi capital participating.

This year’s military semester focuses on changes in content, methods and training locations. The basic new features this summer are: guaranteed facilities; the program is moderated to suit the students’ abilities and focuses on the development of their personalities.

During 10 days of studying and training in a military environment (from June 26 to July 4), the students will become real soldiers, equipped with valuable lessons on discipline, self-awareness, independence, honesty, courage, creativity, sharing and the will to succeed in life.

The course focuses on training students to be independent, overcome their own fears and challenges to become people with stronger will.

In particular, children are taught skills to prevent and combat child sexual abuse; knowledge of adolescent reproductive health care. At the same time, they are educated about family affection, sharing love with relatives as well as the community through gratitude activities, visiting families of policy beneficiaries, historical sites; cultural exchanges with officers and soldiers with the theme "Singing with soldiers".
