More than football, more than the Gold Cup

It was not an uncommon incident, a story like many others in the football world, but much bigger, much more meaningful than the calm or noise of normal win-lose matches.

First of all, everyone admires the role of Danish captain S. Kjaer when this player quickly handled the incident thanks to practical experience before the professional medical team intervened. Then came the action of going to Eriksen's family, along with teammates to cover and support so that everything could be done as quickly, scientifically and effectively as possible for the survival of his teammate, for his personal image against the possible indifference and excesses of the media...

Obviously, football at that time was just football, winning or losing was no longer an important issue (Denmark lost to Finland 0-1 that day, and the next match lost to Belgium 1-2!) but the life of a human being, a normal person as well as a star, was more important than anything. Captain S. Kjaer as well as the entire Danish team, the Finnish team, the stadium organizers, and the entire audience on the field were all focused on the core, survival, to calmly and confidently handle the incident, to protect Eriksen's life and personal image, and they did everything, won everything for an individual, a human being.

The whole world was moved, admired and learned a lot from that incident and event. To see that football is the king of sports, a big tournament like EURO will attract a large audience and is a huge source of profit for organizations and individuals, including the players.

But all, all must not be placed above the fate of a person. It is the responsibility and noble duty of everyone to do everything, everything to best protect each person, especially players on the field as well as in normal life. That is certainly something bigger than football that after the incident with Eriksen, the football world must know by heart!

The incident with Eriksen is of course the most serious of all health-related incidents, which can immediately “remove” a player from the field permanently or temporarily. The next case to mention is the serious injury of L. Spinazzola, an Italian defender, in the match against Belgium in the quarter-finals.Euro 2020, causing Italy to lose an excellent player on the left wing and most importantly, this player was forced to end a memorable EURO in the middle, and also had to be treated for an injury for at least 6 months. Tears rolled down the cheeks of not only one but many men.

But just like Eriksen's incident, the Danish team united to stand up and reach the EURO semi-finals, only to be unfairly defeated by a controversial penalty. The Italian team was not to be outdone by anyone when Spinazzola himself, from his hospital bed, also sat up and sang the Italian national anthem, giving strength to his teammates, just like when he played in the past matches.

Italy steadily advanced to the final and the Italians did not forget to bring the warrior Spinazzola to Wembley Stadium to directly cheer, shout, and sing the familiar, indispensable songs that always burn in every beat towards victory.

The most magical and impressive image is Spinazzola with his hands on crutches, his eyes and lips shining, leading the Italian warriors limping up to the podium to receive the glory of victory. Why was Spinazzola the first and not another player? The answer can only be that the final victory was achieved with the efforts, sweat, tears and blood of many people, including Spinazzola who sacrificed himself for the team more than anyone else and he was completely worthy of being the leading shock warrior.

The image of Spinazzola walking with wooden crutches in the glory of victory will be a beautiful symbol of the fighting spirit and victory to win the Gold Cup.

To win the Gold Cup is the spirit of solidarity, overcoming difficulties and losses for the final victory. The Italian team, in difficult or glorious moments, never forgets anyone in the ranks or is forced to leave the ranks. That "pure gold" quality of the Italian people is therefore even more precious, worth mentioning than the Gold Cup they just won so deservedly.,.
