Honda brings new generation City to Vietnam
A source has just revealed that the Honda Vietnam automobile joint venture is preparing to launch the all-new City compact car model.

The design of the 4th generation City is more sporty, the interior space is expanded while the performance, fuel economy and safety features are optimized. |
This is a car model that has just appeared on the global market earlier this year, in which the first 3 markets are in the Asian region: India, Thailand and Malaysia. After a few months of presence, City's sales volume has reached more than 113,000 units.
In its fourth generation, Honda developed the City as a global model rather than targeting any particular market. To develop the new City, the Japanese automaker conducted a survey of more than 250 people in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, China, Brazil and Argentina. The engineering team responsible for developing the new City was also assembled by project managers from Japan, Thailand and China.
The new City is designed based on the overall idea of a compact sedan. Basically, the design of the 4th generation City is more sporty, the interior space is expanded while the performance, fuel economy and safety features are better.
This information is really surprising because the current generation of City was just launched by Honda Vietnam in mid-June 2013. Meanwhile, car models usually have to be maintained for about 5-8 years before being replaced by an “all new” generation.
Moreover, since its first launch, City has remained in the top 10 best-selling car models in Vietnam. According to statistics from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), Honda City sold 1,449 cars in the first half of 2014, ranking 9th out of 10 best-selling car models. After more than a year of being available, this small car model has exceeded the production milestone of 3,000 cars, double the initial expectation of Honda Vietnam.
The specific launch date of the new City has not been revealed yet, but it is almost certain to be in 2014. With the 4th generation, it is possible that the City will help Honda create a breakthrough in production and rise to the top 5 best-selling car models in Vietnam.
