(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 19, 2015, in Vinh City, the People's Committee of Nghe An - Ha Tinh provinces jointly held a press conference to promote the ceremony to honor Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs were recognized as intangible cultural heritage of humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at the meeting on November 27, 2014 in Paris (France). The recognition of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs by UNESCO shows that the world highly values ​​this special folk performing art form, and will help the community and local authorities to be more responsible in preserving, teaching, and encouraging the younger generation to actively study and participate in performing, in order to preserve and promote this intangible cultural heritage in a sustainable way.

The ceremony to honor "Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs as intangible cultural heritage of humanity" will take place on the evening of January 31, 2015 at Ho Chi Minh Square and Uncle Ho Statue - Vinh City, Nghe An. This is an activity jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces. The program will be broadcast live on VTV1, VTV4, NTV, HTV channels via satellite and a number of radio and television stations nationwide. The ceremony is divided into 2 parts. After the ceremony, there will be an art performance with the theme "Returning to the Vi and Giam region" to help the audience better understand the unique values ​​of this type of heritage. In addition, there will be activities to celebrate the event: exchanges with managers, researchers of folk culture, folk music, artists, folk artisans about Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs. In districts, cities and towns where Nghe Tinh folk song heritage is practiced, such as: performing arts by folk song clubs included in the Spring festival program to serve the people and tourists.
