Messi's new contract has a $330 million release clause

COPE channel (Spain) revealed that Lionel Messi will sign a new contract, valid until 2021, with Barcelona.

"Lionel Messi will sign a new contract on July 15, immediately after returning to Barca," COPE radio quoted an internal source at the Nou Camp as saying. The contract will last until July 2021, when the Argentine star will turn 34.

If another team wants to buy him, the contract termination fee is 330 million dollars. This is not a big number in the football world, especially when compared to the 1 billion dollar contract between Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.

Messi will play for Barca until he is 34 years old when his contract expires.

Messi's current contract with Barca expires in July 2018. The two sides have negotiated an extension many times and only recently finalized it.

Messi is on his honeymoon with his wife Antonella. The couple recently got married in Argentina, in front of hundreds of guests including friends and famous players.

Playing for Barca since 2004, Messi has become the greatest player in the club's history. He has contributed to eight La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues and many other titles.
