Cooperation to ensure security and order in the Nghe An - Xieng Khouang border area
(Baonghean.vn) -On July 11, in Vinh city, the 22nd conference on security and order protection in the border area between the Police and Border Guard of Nghe An province (Vietnam) and the Police of Xieng Khouang province (Lao PDR) took place. Major General Nguyen Xuan Lam - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of Nghe An Provincial Police and Colonel Pu Mi Xeng Kham Dong - Director of Xieng Khouang Provincial Police chaired.
The two sides signed the 22nd memorandum of understanding on ensuring security and order in border areas.
In the past time, implementing the contents of the cooperation documents of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Security of Laos, of the two provinces of Nghe An - Xieng Khouang and the memorandum of understanding at the 21st meeting, the Public Security and Border Guard of the two provinces have regularly exchanged information and coordinated to effectively resolve issues related to security and order in the border area; Create all conditions and help people living along the common border of the two provinces to become increasingly stable. The two sides also advised local authorities to establish interdisciplinary working groups to organize many trips to communes, villages and border hamlets to propagate and disseminate laws, prevent migration, prevent crimes and other violations of the law.
In the State management of security and order, the two sides have coordinated to handle 33 cases of border regulation violations; completed entry procedures for over 45,000 people and 24,000 cargo vehicles. Since July 2012, Nghe An Police and Border Guard have discovered and arrested 38 cases, 71 drug traffickers in the border area, especially the border area between Nghe An and Muong Mooc and Noong Het districts of Xieng Khouang province with large quantities of drugs, seized many vehicles and weapons of criminals, including breaking 16 drug cases, arresting 2 especially dangerous wanted subjects.
At the conference, the two sides also pointed out the limitations that need to be overcome and agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding on the effective implementation of the task of coordinating to ensure security and order in the border area, especially protecting the Vietnam - Laos border marker system that has been built.
On this occasion, representatives of the two delegations presented souvenirs to each other and wished that the solidarity and special friendship between Vietnam and Laos in general and Nghe An and Xieng Khouang provinces in particular would continue to have sustainable development.
