Cooperation in research on marine biological resources of Vietnam

Within the framework of the international cooperation mission on science and technology between the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and the Far Eastern Branch (Russian Academy of Sciences), from April 29 to June 8, a joint investigation and survey trip by Vietnamese and Russian scientists took place on the ship "Academician Oparin".

This is the fourth joint Vietnamese-Russian survey trip on the ship "Oparin" in Vietnam's territorial waters and exclusive economic zones in the East Sea.

Participating in the survey trip, in addition to the sailors, were 21 Russian scientists from the Pacific Institute of Organic Biochemistry, Marine Biology, and Pacific Geography (under the Far Eastern Branch) and 12 scientists from five institutes (under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology).

On the occasion of this event, in Hanoi, on June 5 and 6, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Far Eastern Branch (Russian Academy of Sciences) organized the Second International Conference on Vietnam's Marine Biological Resources.

22 reports by Vietnamese and Russian scientists were presented, mentioning new data on Vietnam's marine biological resources, biodiversity and biochemistry of our country's seas, developing research directions on marine science and technology to serve the training of research staff for Vietnam... This activity is the concretization of the International Cooperation Program "Investigation and survey of environmental resources in the East Sea between Vietnam and other countries" (Project 47).
