'Hot girl' buys and sells drugs, still smiles innocently in court

(Baonghean.vn) - Standing in the dock, Loan said she regretted her illegal actions. However, the only female defendant in the inter-provincial drug ring still smiled 'innocently', forcing the court to remind her.

On the morning of May 8, the Provincial People's Court brought the case of illegal drug trafficking against Tran Van Chinh (born in 1993), residing in Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh, and his accomplices to public trial.

According to the indictment, on the morning of November 26, 2016, Tran Van Chinh called Dang Thi Loan (born in 1993), residing in Thach Ha district, Ha Tinh, to order 2 heroin plants for 50 million VND to bring back to Quang Binh to sell.

Chinh rented a car and invited Nguyen Hong Son (born in 1997), residing in Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh; Loan invited Pham Van Phuong (born in 1988), residing in Xa Luong Commune, Tuong Duong, to go to Tuong Duong District to buy drugs.

After buying 2 heroin sticks and 20 pink pills from a Mong man in the Kem slope area (Xa Luong commune, Tuong Duong), the group got in the car and left.

At around 5:00 a.m. on November 27, 2016, when Chinh was driving his car to Long Son commune, Anh Son district, he was asked by the provincial police task force to stop the car for inspection. Son rolled down the car window and threw the bag containing the drugs out to hide the evidence, but was discovered. All four were arrested by the police with 68.835 grams of heroin and 1.59 grams of synthetic drugs.

At the trial, the defendants admitted their crimes as stated in the indictment. In this case, if successful, Dang Thi Loan could recover 13 million VND in “difference”.

When the representative of the Provincial People's Procuracy holding the right to prosecute asked Loan how she felt about her crime, Loan said she was very remorseful. However, standing in the dock listening to the verdict, Loan still smiled, causing the representative of the Provincial People's Procuracy to have to speak up to remind her.

Differentiating the role and position of each defendant in the case, considering other aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the panel sentenced Tran Van Chinh and Dang Thi Loan to 17 years in prison each; Pham Van Phuong to 16 years in prison; and Nguyen Hong Son to 15 years in prison for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
