HRW: Iraqi security forces execute 255 Muslim prisoners

"Iraqi security forces and government-aligned militias appear to have unlawfully executed at least 255 prisoners... since June 9. This mass killing may constitute war crimes or crimes against humanity," HRW said in a statement.

According to HRW, this appears to be a move to avenge the attack by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), now renamed the Islamic State (IS).
In related developments on the same day, a car bomb and a roadside bomb killed at least 28 people and injured 25 others in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk./.
