Ben Thuy Market Cooperative admits 476 new members

(Baonghean.vn) - On January 21, the Board of Directors of Ben Thuy Market Cooperative held a ceremony to admit 476 new members and implement the 2015 production and business plan.

After consolidating the organization and implementing the Resolution of the Board of Members for the 2014-2019 term to develop the cooperative in a sustainable direction, in early 2015, the Board of Directors of the Cooperative decided to admit 476 new members. To be admitted as members, business households at the market must ensure the following criteria: having a genuine kiosk, legal business location; having been in business for over 12 years, priority given to small traders with registered residence in Ben Thuy, Trung Do; meeting all requirements on qualities and spirit of building the cooperative and having the need to become members will be considered for admission.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Tam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of the Cooperative, said that in order to ensure the rights and obligations of business households, the Board of Directors has widely announced to all individuals doing business at the market. As of January 2015, there were more than 500 applications for membership consideration, but based on the criteria, the Cooperative has considered admitting 476 new members, bringing the total number of members to 530. The new members will be guaranteed their legal rights and interests according to the provisions of the law and the resolution of the Board of Members.

Ms. Duong Thi Thu, a handbag and footwear business owner at the market, said, "After more than 10 years of doing business at the market, this is the happiest and most meaningful day. We have fulfilled our obligations as a business owner, but when we become members, our legal rights and interests will be guaranteed, so we can feel secure and invest in expanding our business better."

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh, Vice Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee, hoped that the Cooperative's Board of Directors and members would unite, comply with regulations and strive to develop the Cooperative, contributing to the overall development of the city.

It is known that Ben Thuy Cooperative was established in 2009 according to the conversion model on the basis of Ben Thuy Ward market. Up to now, after a term of operation, Ben Thuy Cooperative has more than 500 small traders participating in business (excluding mobile business households) of goods serving production and life. Ben Thuy Market, together with Vinh Market and Vinh Railway Station Market, is one of the three business hubs of the city, serving the people of Trung Do, Ben Thuy, Truong Thi wards and thousands of students studying at Vinh University.
