Indian Team Coach: 'We are not coming to Vietnam for tourism'

Coach Manolo Marquez of the Indian team is very confident before the confrontation with the Vietnamese team; he said that the whole team is aiming for a victory, not coming to Vietnam for a vacation.

Looking forward to the October international friendly match (FIFA Days) against the Vietnam National Team on October 12, the Indian National Team arrived in Nam Dinh on October 7. The 23 players under the guidance of head coach Manolo Marquez had their first training session that evening. The first feelings and experiences of Nam Dinh were also shared by the Indian National Team on the homepage of the national football federation (AIFF).

“I like it here,” coach Marquez told the All India Football Federation website. “But we don’t have much time to travel. The Indian team is fully focused on the match against Vietnam. We are here to try to win on October 12.”

The Indian team brought to compete withVietnam teamconsisting of all players playing in domestic tournaments. Rahul Bheke is the oldest player in the squad. He is currently 34 years old. However, the Indian squad is still very young as most of the players were born after 1999. In particular, goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was also appointed as captain. The youngest in the Indian squad this time is midfielder Lalrinliana Hnamte, this player is currently only 21 years old.

They are goalkeeper Sandhu; defenders Chinglensana Konsham, Naorem Roshan, Anwar Ali; midfielders Brandon Fernandes, Jaekson Thounaojam, and 2 strikers Lallianzuala Chhangte, Vikram Partap. Some prominent players are no longer present, such as striker Sunil Chhetri (retired), Udanta Singh Kumam, midfielder Anirudh Thapa or defender Sandesh Jhingan.

The match between Vietnam and India takes place at 18:00 on October 12 at Thien Truong Stadium.
