According to Herrera, the Portuguese referee should not have penalized Arjen Robben's sensitive fall at the end of the match.

“When a referee makes a wrong decision like that, we have to go home. I hope the FIFA Refereeing Committee will review the situation and send him home like us. If the referee was fair, he would not have recognized Robben's fall. We were in control and you know how I feel now,” said an angry Herrera.

The situation leading to the penalty took place in the 90+3 minute, Robben very cleverly forced Mexico captain Rafael Marquez to commit a foul in the penalty area. Immediately, the referee pointed to the penalty spot. On the 11m penalty spot, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar successfully executed, bringing the final victory 2-1 for the Orange Hurricane.

The bitter defeat against the Netherlands prevented Mexico from reaching the quarter-finals for the third time after two World Cups in 1970 and 1986 in their homeland./.
