Coach Philippe Troussier finalizes the list of Vietnam National Team

On the evening of March 18, coach Philippe Troussier announced the list of 28 members of the Vietnam National Team leaving for Indonesia to prepare for the match in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, taking place on March 21.

Of the 5 names eliminated, the case of striker Nguyen Cong Phuong is the most regrettable. Cong Phuong suffered a recurrence of his ankle injury, and he was unable to practice with his teammates in recent training sessions.

Previously, Cong Phuong was also assigned to practice with the Vietnam U23 team and had to follow a separate training plan proposed by fitness coach Cedric Roger to improve his fitness after a long time sitting on the bench at the Japanese team.

The second player eliminated from the list is defender Truong Tien Anh - a defender of Viettel The Cong Club who has just recovered from injury and has only practiced 2 sessions, half as many as his teammates, so his physical condition is not 100%.

In addition, central defender Do Duy Manh was also not selected. The central defender born in 1996 has had very little time to play for the club and the Vietnam national team in the past 4 months, due to having just recovered from an injury.

The remaining two names are Giap Tuan Duong and Nguyen Hai Long. Both of these players cannot participate, as this position has been taken by more experienced players.

According to the plan, the Vietnam team will leave for Indonesia early tomorrow morning (March 19). Here, coach Troussier and his students will have 2 more training sessions to complete the final preparations for the match with the host team on March 21. After the match, the Vietnam team will return to practice, preparing for the return match taking place on March 26 at My Dinh Stadium.
