Hung Nguyen: Honoring outstanding examples among Catholics

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 9, Hung Nguyen district summarized 5 years of the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas", praising good people and good deeds among Catholics.

Representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee, members of the District Party Committee Standing Committee and 80 typical representatives of more than 23,000 Catholics in the whole district attended.

Hung Nguyen has 73 hamlets, 14/23 communes where Catholics live. Religious activities of the people are concentrated in 6 main parishes, 34 parishes, 30 churches and 1 Trang Nua Cross Lovers monastery.

In the past 5 years, implementing the Resolution of the District Party Committee and the economic and social development policies and guidelines set forth by the Party and the State, especially implementing the national target program on new rural construction associated with the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas", Catholics in the district have been excited, confident, and strived to overcome difficulties, making the patriotic emulation movement, building and defending the Fatherland of Catholics in the district have many changes and progress.

With the spirit of remembering the source of drinking water, the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves, in the past 5 years, Hung Nguyen parishioners have contributed hundreds of millions of dong to the gratitude fund, the fund for the poor to help those in difficulty, storms, floods, natural disasters and calamities. Especially in the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas, live a good life and follow the religion" has been enthusiastically responded by many parishioners. Up to now, the whole district has 4,417/5,694 parishioner households achieving cultural family status; 72/86 advanced residential areas, of which 35% have achieved excellent advanced residential areas, 15 villages have been recognized as cultural villages.

Responding to the emulation movement to build new rural areas, parishioners donated 5,000 square meters of land, removed thousands of meters of fences to open roads, and built cultural houses. As a result, they contributed 25 billion VND, more than 20,000 working days, built 50 km of concrete village roads, and rebuilt 15 new village cultural houses.

On this occasion, the District People's Committee awarded 4 collectives and 13 individuals. The District Fatherland Front Committee also awarded 2 collectives and 4 individuals with outstanding achievements in the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas, live a good life and good religion".
