Hung Nguyen responds to Drug Prevention Action Month

(Baonghean.vn) - On June 11, Hung Nguyen district organized a rally and parade to respond to the Drug Prevention Action Month and National Drug Prevention Day 2015.

Previously, Hung Nguyen was considered a key complex area for drugs in the country. In recent years, the Party Committee, authorities and mass organizations in the district have discovered and arrested hundreds of drug crimes, destroyed many large drug trafficking and transportation rings and dozens of retail points, organizations and illegal drug users.

However, the situation of drug-related crimes in Hung Nguyen is still complicated. In 2014, Hung Nguyen police arrested 23 cases with 42 subjects, confiscating more than 112 grams of heroin and 10 grams of crystal meth. In the first 6 months of 2015, they arrested and handled 8 cases with 20 subjects, confiscating more than 100 grams of heroin and more than 1 kilogram of crystal meth. Currently, there are still more than 150 drug addicts in Hung Nguyen.

Parade in response to Drug Prevention Action Month.

This year's rally was attended by nearly 200 officers and soldiers of the armed forces, leaders of communes, towns, youth union members, and representatives of businesses in the district. At the ceremony, the leaders of Hung Nguyen district called on party committees at all levels, authorities, armed forces, youth union members, and people from all walks of life to join hands and promote drug prevention and control; to propagate and mobilize, raise people's awareness, proactively prevent, and denounce drug users, possessors, and traffickers, contributing to curbing the increase in crime, especially drug-related crimes.

After the launching ceremony, the forces participating in the ceremony organized a parade on the main roads of the district in response to the Month of Action against Drugs and the National Day against Drugs in 2015.
