It has been 81 years, there are no longer any traces of the pain and tragedy of September 12, 1930 when blood mixed with mud on Thai Lao field with 217 dead and 125 injured by enemy bombs. But history still has golden pages recording the seething fighting spirit of tens of thousands of farmers in the former Hung Nguyen district, contributing to the peak of the Nghe Tinh Soviet of our country's revolutionary movement during the years under the colonial and feudal yoke.

(Baonghean) -It has been 81 years, there are no longer any traces of the pain and tragedy of September 12, 1930 when blood mixed with mud on Thai Lao field with 217 dead and 125 injured by enemy bombs. But history still has golden pages recording the seething fighting spirit of tens of thousands of farmers in the former Hung Nguyen district, contributing to the peak of the Nghe Tinh Soviet of our country's revolutionary movement during the years under the colonial and feudal yoke.

September has become a sacred month in many revolutionary autumns, so that every citizen of Hung Nguyen homeland vows to strive to build a new life, worthy of the sacrifices of the fathers' generation for the country. Provincial Road 558 - the road that branches off National Highway 46 leading from Hung Nguyen Town to the communes of Hung Tan, Hung Thong, Hung Xa... is now expanded, paved smoothly, and is one of the most beautiful provincial roads in the province, since when has it been called "Road 12-9" in the minds of Hung Nguyen people; it seems to hear the heroic echoes of the footsteps of tens of thousands of farmers protesting to show their power, destroying prisons, burning district offices, and surrounding the green-clad soldiers' posts on this road in September 1930, when witnessing the atmosphere of business innovation today. Following the prosperous villages, the vibrant services and trade from the dynamism of the people have shaped the appearance of the town along the historical road. In Hung Xa commune, in mid-September 2011, the commune is eagerly preparing for the summer-autumn harvest, expected to be the earliest commune in the district with increased productivity and rice output compared to last year. Chua village, the noodle and cake making village, continues to develop vigorously and Hung Xa market has become one of the main markets in the region, which are highlights for diverse service business forms, creating many favorable trends for the development of the service and trade industry. The commune currently has 136 people participating in labor export abroad, and annually the amount of remittances is not small, contributing to raising the total social income of Hung Xa in the first 6 months of 2011 to over 33.6 billion VND. Today, Hung Xa countryside is lined with well-built houses, and the infrastructure system serving people's lives is developed; In the first 6 months of this year alone, a road named Nguyen Van Troi worth 4.3 billion VND was built, a power line worth 3.5 billion VND, a bridge over the 12-9 river worth 2 billion VND, a clean water project worth 7 billion VND and more than half a billion VND for the stadium and the irrigation system in the fields. The new rural face has clearly appeared in Hung Xa homeland. The driving force from the emulation movements in production and labor, building cultural life in residential areas... continues to create a position and development force for the commune, which increasingly demonstrates the dynamic and creative role of the people with many new business models. For example, in hamlet 6, there is a farmer named Vo Xuan Hong, who was once famous for his cow farm model considered the largest in Hung Nguyen district; now he and his wife have switched to mainly growing vegetables on a 2-hectare farm. In particular, Mr. Hong is implementing a model of growing stevia to serve as raw material for extracting RebA sugar (medicinal material) with 8 sao; according to the contract signed with Asia Development Investment Joint Stock Company (North Central Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology), with 4 harvests a year, in the first year, Mr. Hong and his wife will have a net profit of about 20 million VND, in the second year nearly 30 million VND from those 8 sao of stevia...

Construction and upgrading of Nghe Tinh Soviet Square
in Hung Nguyen Town.

Hung Thong Commune, the hometown of the late General Secretary Le Hong Phong, has promoted its revolutionary tradition, overcome many difficulties in natural conditions to develop its socio-economy with a new determination to strengthen solidarity within the Party, government and the entire population. The commune has determined that the task of completing the 2011 plan targets is extremely heavy, so it is focusing on specific solutions in the last 6 months of 2011. That is, harvesting summer-autumn rice with a yield of over 45 quintals/ha; promoting livestock and aquaculture; striving to plant 60 hectares of corn and various vegetables in the winter crop, while preparing all necessary conditions for seeds, materials, fertilizers, etc. to produce a successful winter crop. Hung Thong also focuses on cultural and social development. The commune is striving for the goal of building about 83% of households to achieve the title of cultural family in 2011, and 1 to 2 hamlets to achieve the title of cultural village; Complete the program of universalizing preschool education for 5-year-old children and convert semi-public preschools to public ones using part of the budget; ensure health care for the people... Hung Thong is also a commune that focuses on the movements of the Farmers' Association. In addition to constantly promoting the movement of farmers who are good at production and business, helping each other to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, there is a movement of farmers participating in building new rural areas to strengthen the socio-economic infrastructure. By promoting grassroots democracy well, arousing the internal strength of the people, the houses and living facilities of Hung Thong farmers are built spacious, clean and beautiful, the inter-commune rural traffic system, bridges, canals are concreted solidly... With the attention of the Party and the State, the Memorial Site of the late General Secretary Le Hong Phong is being upgraded and built, meeting the expectations of the people of Hung Thong to multiply their pride and determination to move forward on the path of innovation.

Stevia growing model in Hung Xa.

No less vibrant is Hung Tan locality, where the Soviet spirit of 1930 - 1931 is one of the revolutionary imprints imprinted in every person here, creating the consistent strength of a countryside with strong and steady progress through periods of striving to build and defend the Fatherland; contributing to the development achievements of the district. Mr. Nguyen Huu Thong - Vice Chairman of Hung Tan commune, said: "Taking advantage of the locality's advantages, the commune is continuing to develop a variety of suitable occupations to attract workers with jobs, gradually improving the lives of workers. Developing the production of construction materials, mechanical services, welding, electronics and using machine tools, consolidating and promoting occupations such as: carpentry, construction, tailoring... Actively seeking markets for products to promote production development". It can be said that, in the new development of localities along the historic Highway 12 - 9 (ie Provincial Road 558), Hung Tan is the commune that most clearly shows the compression of the "village to city" appearance, possibly from the dynamic development of small-scale handicrafts. And it is impossible not to mention another economic "spearhead" of Hung Tan, which is the movement to develop family farms, creating a network of systems supplying agricultural products from combined livestock farming models. Currently, Hung Tan has 147 family farm models of farming households that have been facilitated by the commune to consolidate land plots for implementation. Although not meeting the criteria of land area to be recognized as a farm, most of Hung Tan's family farm economic models have annual revenue exceeding that of farm models of some other localities. For example, in Hamlet 1, there is a cluster of 4 adjacent family farms from the consolidation of land plots of 4 farming households, each household earns a net profit of 150 - 200 million VND/year. The farm of household owner Vo Ngoc Minh is about 7,500m2 wide; the owner, born in 1974, said that the couple started the farm in 2005 with 120 million VND, all borrowed capital. The "risk" was also from the encouragement of the government through training in livestock farming techniques, support for breeding animals (pigs) and the determination to change the lives of the young couple. At first, spending every penny, the couple worked hard to build dikes, build barns, and gradually scale up the pig, fish, chicken and duck farming model... Now, after 5 years, Minh and his wife have paid off all their debts, built a spacious house, and invested in the farm, the value of which has reached about 600 million VND; If the farm had not suffered losses due to the bird flu epidemic in 2008, it would have been even larger... It can be said that the Hung Tan government has created a bond with farmers through specific and effective concerns, promoting administrative reforms to resolve all procedures for the people as quickly and as best as possible... Believing in the new life, Hung Tan farmers, in addition to being proactive in striving to do good business, have actively built a cultural life in residential areas, cleaned village roads and alleys, stabilized security and order, educated children in the revolutionary traditions of their homeland... creating a driving force to focus on economic development to improve life in all aspects.

For more than two-thirds of a century since the indomitable revolutionary spirit of the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement in 1930 - 1931, Hung Nguyen farmers of localities along the historic 12-9 road have been confident on the "bright road", contributing to the renovation and integration of their homeland and country today. In the future, when the Nghe Tinh Soviet Square, the Memorial Site of the late General Secretary Le Hong Phong, and the Cultural - Historical relics in the district are completed, Hung Nguyen will be an attractive destination for visitors from inside and outside the province to visit and learn about investment, which will be a part of the new revolutionary spirit to rise up from poverty and become rich legitimately, brightening up a new rural appearance. That spirit, it can be said, was initiated from the boiling revolutionary spirit of the past...
