(Baonghean) -Storm No. 5 is currently approaching the mainland. Today, September 30, Nghe An has rain in Nghe An. Being a low-lying district, with many residential areas living outside the Lam River dike, Hung Nguyen district has taken proactive measures to prevent and minimize damage caused by storms and rains.

Head of the District Agriculture Department - Mr. Phan Van Truong said: Up to now, Hung Nguyen has harvested 3,255.5 hectares of summer-autumn rice, the whole district still has 901.5 hectares of rice in the fields, most of which will be harvested in ten more days. The district has directed the communes in the middle and outer regions such as Hung Thong, Hung My, Thi Tran, Hung Dao, Hung Trung, Hung Yen Bac and Hung Yen Nam to carry out urgent solutions to protect unripe rice fields and unharvested crops. At the same time, the dykes of aquaculture ponds are reinforced. Currently, in the fields of Hung Nguyen, people are still rushing to harvest the yellow rice fields.

Mobilize combine harvesters to quickly harvest rice and bring it home before the storm comes.

Ms. Lam Thi Xoan - Block 9 - Hung Nguyen Town hurriedly loaded bags of rice onto the truck and said: Her family has 3 sao of rice that is about 80% ripe. Today she rented a combine harvester to harvest it neatly, avoiding the flood.

Along with directing people to urgently harvest the rice fields that are about 80% ripe, Hung Nguyen has directed forces to deploy dredging and drainage ditches, proactively operate drainage works to drain floods in time, especially paying attention to drainage culverts for low canal dykes and dykes 42; assigning full forces to be on duty, regularly checking flood-prevention dykes, reservoirs, proactively discharging floods and implementing plans to protect the safety of dams. At the same time, Hung Nguyen has directed investors with construction works along rivers and mining areas to deploy measures to ensure safety for people, vehicles and works.

On the afternoon of September 29, the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control of Hung Nguyen district held an emergency meeting. Many important solutions were discussed and implemented immediately. The heavy rains in mid-September caused the embankment of the residential area living outside the river of Hung Linh commune to collapse. The district urgently organized 6 households with 30 people to evacuate to the area inside the dike to avoid storms and rain, and at the same time placed barriers and danger signs, prohibiting people and vehicles from entering and exiting dangerous areas. At Tung Ngoan Bridge (Hung Long), which collapsed due to flooding, while the area outside the dike of Hung Long still has 1,800 people living. Currently, the crossing of this bridge and some roads from inside the dike to the area that was eroded due to flooding has been completely banned, and three-plank boats are also prohibited from crossing the river.

The rice has been threshed and bagged.

In particular, there is currently a dam in the area that has some shortcomings in dealing with floods, such as Thach Tien dam (Hung Yen Nam) which is currently very weak. The district has assigned forces to prepare all necessary conditions, ready to evacuate people downstream of the dam body as soon as there is heavy rain. Review the population in the river mouth area such as Hung Nhan, Hung Loi, Hung Lam, Hung Nhan, or areas at risk of landslides including Hung Phu, Hung Thang, Hung Tien and Hung Yen Nam to have a plan to evacuate people when needed. At the same time, assign the Military Command and the district's agricultural department to fully prepare rescue forces and means, and deploy rescue forces immediately if needed. Mr. Truong said: Currently, Hung Nguyen has tested 4 rescue boats, fully equipped with life jackets and necessary means so that when needed, they will be deployed immediately in deep flooded areas and areas inside dike 42.

Information on storms and floods is regularly updated by the District Steering Committee on the District Radio and Television Station and the loudspeaker system in the communes. Communication is ensured to be smooth and regular between the Flood and Storm Prevention Steering Committee and the communes and routes for timely direction. The District also assigned the Traffic Subcommittee and the Liaison Subcommittee to immediately clear traffic jams and communication systems, ensuring that storm and flood prevention work can proceed smoothly.

From 7:00 p.m. on September 29, Hung Nguyen's Flood and Storm Prevention and Control Command Board was present at the routes, on duty 24/7 to be ready for prevention and proactively take measures to respond to storms.
