Hung Nguyen tests new rice varieties for high yield
(Baonghean) -In the Spring crop of 2011, Hung Nguyen district (Nghe An) piloted the planting of XT.28 and X.33 rice varieties on some areas of the midland communes such as Hung Thinh, Hung Phuc, Hung Tan, and Nang Xuan rice variety was planted in the communes of Hung Dao, Hung My, Hung Tay... The results showed that the rice varieties put into trial planting all had good resistance to pests and cold.
Also on this occasion, Hung Nguyen district organized a workshop to evaluate the SRI improved intensive farming technique and tested high-quality rice varieties on 10 hectares in Hung Long and Hung Linh communes. This method is to plant young seedlings, space them in marked furrows or square plots, use manure and weed by hand, and water as required to exploit the even growth of rice plants.
From the results of field monitoring and initial data analysis, many high-yield rice varieties have confirmed their suitability for intensive farming in Hung Nguyen fields, providing an open direction for the structure of commercial rice varieties.
