Hung Nguyen organizes the 2015 Field Festival

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 24, in Hung Thang commune, the People's Committee of Hung Nguyen district organized the first field trip of the year. Attending with the farmers were Mr. Ho Ngoc Sy - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Mr. Nguyen Van Lap - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and leaders of Hung Nguyen district.

The first time the festival of going down to the fields (also known as Tich Dien festival) was held was in 987 when King Le Dai Hanh personally went down to the fields to plow with farmers in a rural area in today's Ha Nam province. Since then, the festival of going down to the fields has been held annually under many kings and has become an important festival in the lives of people in many regions across the country. Since 2010, when former President Nguyen Minh Triet went down to the fields to plow, this festival has been restored in many localities.

In Nghe An, in recent years, the Going to the Field Festival has been held in some mountainous localities such as Quy Chau, Que Phong, etc., creating a joyful, exciting atmosphere and a spirit of competition for farmers before entering a new crop season and a new production year. However, this is the first time the festival has been organized on a large scale, systematically, with contents such as drum beating to open the Going to the Field Festival, demonstration of agricultural production machinery directly in the fields and a Rice Planting Competition. Speaking at the ceremony, the district Party Secretary stated: The Going to the Field Festival held for the first time in Hung Nguyen has demonstrated the attention of the Party and the State to agricultural production; motivating and encouraging farmers to actively compete in production and implementing local socio-economic targets.
