On the morning of September 26, Lieutenant Colonel Mai Chien Thang - Deputy Head of Vinh City Police (Nghe An) said that at around 3:30 p.m. on September 25, through the process of collecting evidence and ambushing and monitoring, Vinh City Police detectives raided and arrested Nguyen Thanh Son, born in 1972, who was hiding on Huynh Thuc Khang Street, Block 17, Ben Thuy Ward, Vinh City (about 7-8 km from the crime scene). The subject "kidnapped" Nguyen Anh Tu, born in 200, residing in Hamlet 17, Nghi Phu Ward, Vinh City, and locked him up in a hotel in the area for nearly a month. By the time they were discovered, Son had escaped, and Tu had to be taken to Nghe An General Hospital for emergency treatment in critical condition.

At the police station, Nguyen Thanh Son initially admitted to beating his disabled nephew Nguyen Anh Tu to the point of hospitalization. Currently, investigators are working with Son to clarify the incident.
