Guidelines for assessing first grade students
(Baonghean.vn) - Following the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Nghe An Department of Education and Training has issued a document providing temporary guidance on evaluating first grade students.
Accordingly, the purpose of assessment is to confirm the progress of each student; encourage students to love learning and participate in educational activities; help teachers adjust teaching content and methods to suit each student; and strengthen coordination between school and family in educating students.
The assessment of first grade students is carried out according to the following principles: Do not put pressure on students; do not give scores and use scores as a basis for (regular) assessment of students; ensure comprehensive assessment of students; combine teacher assessment with self-assessment of students; ensure publicity, objectivity, fairness and do not compare, criticize or insult students.
Assessment of student conduct is still carried out as prescribed from 2009 to present. Assessment of learning process and results is carried out in two ways: regular assessment and periodic assessment.
First grade students of Giai Xuan Primary School (Tan Ky district) practice reading.
Periodic assessment is conducted for Vietnamese and Math subjects by end-of-year tests with scores; for other subjects, periodic assessment is based on the synthesis of regular assessment results to be classified into 2 levels "meet the requirements" and "not yet qualified”. The Vietnamese and Math tests are conducted once at the end of the school year, after students have completed the first grade program.
At the end of the school year, students are considered for promotion to the next grade if their conduct is classified as "fully performing primary school student tasks"; regular year-round assessment of subjects "meet the requirements" and the periodic assessment results of Vietnamese and Math subjects are from 5.0 points or higher; the remaining subjects are classified as "meet the requirements".
Students who are not considered for direct promotion will be re-evaluated after receiving support from the school and family during the summer. Each student will be re-evaluated a maximum of two times before entering the new school year. Students will be re-evaluated in the subject or educational activity thatmeet the requirementsOr retest for 2 subjects Vietnamese and Math with 5.0 points or higher will be considered for promotion.
Excellent Students at the end of the school year are students whose conduct is classified as “fully implemented”; Vietnamese and Math subjects are regularly assessed throughout the year as “satisfactory” and periodically assessed at 9.0 points or higher; the remaining subjects are regularly assessed throughout the year and periodically as “satisfactory”. Advanced Students are students whose conduct is classified as “fully implemented”; Vietnamese and Math subjects are regularly assessed throughout the year as “satisfactory” and periodically assessed at 7.0 points or higher; the remaining subjects are regularly assessed throughout the year and periodically as “satisfactory”. In addition, students who do not meet the conditions for being awarded Excellent Students or Advanced Students but have outstanding abilities or have good deeds (helping friends in difficult circumstances, helping the elderly, the lonely, etc.) are awarded by the school unexpectedly or at the end of the school year.
