Mobilizing leading professors and helicopters to serve APEC
The health sector plans to mobilize leading professors from Bach Mai, Viet Duc... along with 500 doctors, nurses to serve APEC.

From November 6-11, the APEC Summit Week will take place in Da Nang with the participation of heads of state and delegations from 21 member economies and more than 10,000 delegates.
To ensure medical work, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, Ministry of Health was assigned as the permanent unit. Director Luong Ngoc Khue said that since June, the medical working group serving APEC was established.
“We know this is a very honorable and glorious task, but it will also be full of challenges and hardships. Therefore, we have tried to prepare carefully and thoroughly and are now ready,” Mr. Khue informed.
Ready for helicopter transport
Mr. Khue said that the health sector has completed scenarios for disaster emergency plans, and will rehearse them on October 25 in Da Nang.

A series of hospitals have been arranged such as Friendship Hospital, Da Nang C Hospital, Hue Central Hospital, Da Nang General Hospital, Da Nang Oncology Hospital, Quang Nam General Hospital, Da Nang 115 Emergency Center... along with 2 ambulances with full equipment and essential medicines.
In addition, coordinate with International SOS company to issue plans and procedures for transporting patients abroad for treatment.
About 500 medical staff including doctors, nurses, technicians... have been mobilized to serve the APEC 2017 Summit Week.
“At the same time, we also plan to mobilize leading professors specializing in intensive care, cardiology, and surgery from major hospitals such as Bach Mai, Viet Duc, Huu Nghi, Cho Ray... to participate,” Mr. Khue informed.
Medical teams and hospitals are on duty 24/7 to handle emergency cases and provide timely treatment to delegates attending the APEC Summit Week in case of illness, injury, or accident.
Mobile emergency teams and standby teams to respond in case of emergency situations such as trauma, fire, explosion, mass poisoning, and disasters have been arranged, and plans to transport patients by helicopter are also ready.
54 food supervisors
Identifying food safety as one of the key tasks, the Ministry of Health has established three inspection teams to monitor food safety and investigate food poisoning at 49 hotels serving APEC 2017 and assigned 54 supervisors.
The Ministry has also reviewed 69 food venues proposed by the Department of Tourism on food safety conditions; developed a process for investigating and handling food poisoning; trained supervisors and implemented 3-step food inspection in accordance with regulations for service staff.
Mr. Khue added that in the coming time, the delegations will continue to strengthen inspections and provide guidance on ensuring food safety at hotels where delegates stay and at conference venues.
In addition, the health sector is responsible for disease prevention and environmental sanitation, preventing major epidemics from occurring before and during the conference.
To ensure water resources, the Da Nang Department of Health was assigned to check and monitor water samples at water plants serving the APEC conference.
