President Luong Cuong begins official visit to Peru, attends APEC Summit Week
In Peru, President Luong Cuong will attend an official welcoming ceremony hosted by the President of Peru; hold talks and meetings with leaders of the Peruvian Government and National Assembly; and participate in many activities during the APEC Summit Week.
On the afternoon of November 12 local time (morning of November 13 Vietnam time), the plane carrying President Luong Cuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, starting an official visit to Peru and attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Week.
The working trip took place at the invitation of Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra.
President Luong Cuong is expected to attend the official welcoming ceremony hosted by the President of Peru; hold talks and meet with leaders of the Peruvian Government and National Assembly.
Along with that, the President will join leaders of member economies in attending the APEC Summit; attending and delivering important speeches at the APEC-CEO Summit, the Informal Dialogue between APEC leaders and guests; and many other bilateral activities.
This is the first official visit of a Vietnamese President to Peru, taking place on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The visit is expected to be a historic milestone, contributing to strengthening political relations, enhancing cooperation efficiency, and bringing the relationship to a new height.
Peru is Vietnam's largest foreign direct investor in Latin America; Vietnam's sixth largest trading partner in the region, while Vietnam is Peru's largest trading partner in ASEAN. Bilateral trade turnover in 2023 reached nearly 500 million USD, and in the first 7 months of this year it reached nearly 300 million USD.
The APEC Summit Week is an opportunity for the President to meet and interact with APEC leaders, including many comprehensive strategic partners and strategic partners.

APEC is the leading economic forum, where 3/5 of the world's largest economies converge, accounting for about 77% of trade, 81% of foreign direct investment and 85% of tourists to Vietnam. As the host of APEC Year 2027, this is also an opportunity for Vietnam to promote the implementation of the APEC Vision 2040, which our country initiated and participated in building with members since 2017.
The President will put forward many strategic and innovative proposals to further promote APEC's role and position in international economic cooperation and connectivity, and respond to emerging challenges.
