(Baonghean.vn) - On Sunday, February 1, while stopping in Paris, Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis announced that he hopes a general agreement on Greece's financial situation will be reached by "the end of May".

Not long ago, Mr. Varoufakis himself announced that he “rejected 7 billion euros” of bailout money proposed by the European Union and announced that he would seek new agreements with Athens’ international creditors. Mr. Varoufakis stressed that these agreements would not include seeking “new loans.”

The entire European Union is now carefully examining the “first steps” of the Athens government, which was elected on January 26 with a promise to end austerity measures. Asked about how long it would take for Greece to recover from financial market turmoil, Mr. Varoufakis said it needed “a little more time” for the government to explain itself to Athens’ various partners.

Regarding the above statements of Minister Varoufakis, Mr. Michel Sapin - Minister of Finance of France declared that this country will "support, facilitate and always be present to help the parties find a solution that allows everyone to overcome difficulties". At the same time, Mr. Sapin also believes that the coming days will be "the most peaceful days".

France is known to be the first stop in a series of European countries visited by Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis with the aim of seeking new agreements to reduce the debt burden for Greece. However, during this trip, Mr. Varoufakis seems to have "forgotten" to talk to Germany again. On the German side, a spokesman for the Finance Ministry said that the country has not "received any official request" from the new Greek government.

Also on Sunday afternoon, when asked about the crisis in Greece, President Barack Obama said that "we cannot continue to force countries that are in a state of collapse." However, according to President Obama, at some point, countries also need to have a development strategy to repay their debts.
