Hyundai Elantra reduced up to 80 million from now to 2018
The new price list for the C-class sedan model is applied by Hyundai Thanh Cong from now until 2018, with two reduction levels of 66 and 80 million VND.
After the 20-40 million discount of Grand i10, another product of Hyundai Thanh Cong was announced to apply the 2018 price list right from the time of announcement.
The lowest reduction is for the 1.6 MT version, but still up to 66 million VND, with the new price down below the 600 million mark, down to only 549 million VND. Both the 1.6 AT and 2.0 AT versions are reduced up to 80 million.
Version | Old price | New price | Discount level |
Elantra 1.6MT | 615 | 549 | 66 |
Elantra 1.6 AT | 689 | 609 | 80 |
Elantra 2.0 AT | 739 | 659 | 80 |
Hyundai Thanh Cong said this is the price that has applied the 0% component tax. With the new price, Elantra is only slightly higher than Cerato, while much lower than other competitors such as Civic, Altis and Mazda3. Before the reduction, Elantra 1.6 AT version was lower than Altis and Civic but higher than Mazda3 1.5 AT version by 40 million VND, and 2.0 AT version was only lower than Mazda3 2.0 AT by 6 million VND.
Previously, on November 21, Hyundai Thanh Cong announced the new retail price for the Grand i10 assembled in Vietnam. The discount ranges from 20 to 40 million VND depending on the version.
Just one day later, Truong Hai introduced a new price list for the two brands Mazda and Kia. All assembled models with engines of 2.0 or less were discounted by 20-40 million in 2018.
Representatives of the companies said that this level will be applied until 2018, meaning that customers buying cars at the end of this year or early next year will not see any difference in price.

The Elantra currently sold in Vietnam is the 6th generation, assembled at Hyundai Thanh Cong's factory in Ninh Binh. |
Elantra is sold in Vietnam with 2 engine options: Nu 2.0 with 156 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque; and Gamma II 1.6 with 128 horsepower and 154 Nm of torque. Both are combined with a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission.
The car has 3 driving modes including Eco, Normal and Sport. Safety features such as anti-lock brakes, electronic balance, vehicle stability, traction control, electronic brake force distribution and hill start assist.
Elantra is quite young. The 6th generation was introduced by Hyundai Thanh Cong in mid-July 2016 and Vietnam is also the first market in the Asia-Pacific region to assemble this model.
The assembled version overcomes the price disadvantage compared to the old version when imported completely from Korea (import tax 70%). The company does not announce the sales of Elantra but it is still far behind its rival Mazda3.
