IAEA will cooperate to help Vietnam with nuclear power
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Nguyen Thiep on October 29 presented his credentials to Mr. Yukiya Amano, Director General of the IAEA.
At the reception following the presentation of credentials, IAEA Director General Amano expressed his impression of Vietnam's efforts and progress in recent times in the field of nuclear energy development and application as well as close cooperation with the IAEA in building infrastructure, preparing legal frameworks and training human resources to ensure strict requirements when implementing nuclear power.

Director General Amano affirmed that the IAEA will continue to closely cooperate and assist Vietnam in this field, especially in nuclear safety and security issues with valuable international experiences drawn from the Fukushima incident, helping Vietnam maintain economic growth while meeting the requirements of sustainable development.
For his part, Ambassador Nguyen Thiep highly appreciated the technical support of IAEA for Vietnam over the years in the fields of industry, agriculture, medicine, chemicals..., especially in the application of nuclear energy development, and expressed his sincere thanks for the sentiments and support of the Director General personally for Vietnam.
The Ambassador affirmed Vietnam's support for the important role of the IAEA in coordinating efforts to promote the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, enhance nuclear safety and security, combat proliferation, and move towards complete and thorough disarmament of nuclear weapons, as well as the IAEA's multifaceted support for the organization's member countries in developing nuclear energy.
Ambassador Nguyen Thiep hopes that Vietnam will continue to receive effective and practical support from the IAEA to implement Vietnam's national nuclear power program, especially regarding nuclear safety and security, in accordance with international standards and requirements./.
