Indonesia: Thousands evacuated due to ethnic violence
Indonesian police said on October 30 that 12 people were killed and more than 1,600 people were evacuated due to ethnic clashes on Sumatra island.
"Clashes between villagers in two villages in Lampung province have left 12 people dead and 1,663 displaced," a Lampung provincial police spokeswoman told AFP.
She also said more than 2,000 police were deployed to contain violence in the southern part of Sumatra island after clashes broke out on October 27, and the situation was now stable.
