Iniesta wins EURO Player of the Year award
According to the results announced by the European Football Federation (UEFA), Andres Iniesta was voted the best player of EURO 2012.
Andres Iniesta received the highest number of votes in the 11 ballots cast by the sub-committee members, surpassing strong competitor Andrea Pirlo of Italy.
This is not a surprising result as Iniesta has contributed significantly to helping Spain successfully defend the championship, making history as the first team to win 3 major tournaments in a row (EURO 2008, World Cup 2010 and EURO 2012).

In this tournament, Iniesta was also twice awarded the title of Best Player of the Match.
This is also the second consecutive time Spain has been honored with this individual title. Four years ago at EURO 2008, Xavi Hernandez was also voted the best player of the tournament by UEFA.
In addition to Iniesta, previously, Fernando Torres also surpassed other strikers such as Balotelli (Italy), Ronaldo (Portugal), Gomez (Germany) to receive the Golden Boot award with 3 goals.
Along with awarding the Golden Ball of EURO 2012 to Iniesta, UEFA also voted for the best team of EURO 2012, with 23 players from 16 teams.
