5th Generation Intel® Core™ processors are Intel's latest processors manufactured on the 14nm process.

The new processor line promises to boost graphics performance and overall system processing, while also being more energy efficient than the previous generation.

The 5th Generation Intel Core processor family is designed specifically for the next generation of computing devices, which are thinner and lighter, from traditional laptops, Ultrabook™, Chromebooks, all-in-ones, and mini PCs. With the arrival of the 5th Generation Intel® Core™ processors, the “Broadwell” microarchitecture promises to deliver the fastest mobile transformation ever, giving users more choice.

Benefits of the 5th Generation Intel® Core™ processor family and 14nm tablet processors include:

- Powerful performance: 14nm technology processor allows to reduce product size and increase semiconductor density, helping to increase graphics and processing performance while reducing power consumption.

- Energy efficiency. Longer battery life: Intel continues to improve battery life, and this latest processor line continues to improve.

- Watch movies. Play games. Create with Intel graphics: The 5th Generation Intel® Core™ processor family advances the graphics architecture to new levels of performance and energy efficiency. The 5th Generation Intel® Core™ processors offer graphics options including Intel® HD Graphics 5500, HD Graphics 6000, and Intel® Iris™ Graphics 6100. All will provide users with stunning visuals, capable of displaying at 4K Ultra HD resolution, including via Intel WiDi 5.1 connectivity.

- Internet of Things: The 5th Generation Intel® Core™ processor family is also helping to accelerate the growth of the Internet of Things (IoT), especially in areas such as retail, manufacturing, and healthcare. Thanks to Intel’s leading 14nm manufacturing process and architecture, the new processors are designed to deliver enhanced graphics, increased performance with less heat, and support next-generation IoT solutions, while maintaining backward compatibility with the previous generation. Enhanced capabilities and security features can be used in end-to-end IoT solutions, benefiting customers and businesses.

- More realistic and impressive experience: The performance of 5th generation processors brings a better user experience now and in the future.

- Availability: The 5th generation of Intel Core processors includes the Intel® Core™ i3, Intel® Core™ i5, Intel® Core™ i7, and Intel® Core™ i7 vPro™ processors. New Intel® Pentium® and Intel® Celeron® processors based on the 14nm process are also available. New systems based on the 5th generation Intel Core processors from various manufacturers are expected to be available in January. Cherry Trail devices will be available in the first half of 2015.
