Iran discusses non-dollar trade with Russia and Türkiye

The head of Iran's Central Bank, Abdolnaser Hemmati, said that he had discussed with representatives of Russia and Türkiye the issue of using national currencies in trade instead of the dollar, the Tehran Times wrote.

"We have decided to carry out the next part of the work related to the agreements reached after the meeting with the head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation in Moscow," ILNA news agency quoted the head of the Central Bank of Iran as saying.

On Friday, talks took place in Tehran between the leaders of Russia, Türkiye and Iran Vladimir Putin, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hasan Rouhani. The main topics of the meeting were the situation in the Syrian province of Idlib and the process of resolving the crisis in the Arab republic.

Previously, Mr. Erdogan called for an end to the dominance of the dollar in international trade and a shift to using national currencies in trade between countries.
