Iran and P5+1 extend nuclear talks for another week
(Baonghean.vn) - The main content of the 80-page final agreement is still the subject of negotiations in the Austrian capital Vienna. This careful work will now continue at the level of experts and political leaders.
Iran and six powers (the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and Germany) failed to reach an agreement on Tehran's nuclear program by June 30 and agreed to extend the deadline for this diplomatic event by one week.
“The P5+1 and Iran have decided to extend the measures under the Joint Action Plan until July 7 to allow more time for negotiations to reach a long-term solution,” said Marie Harf, senior adviser for strategic communications at the US State Department. According to TASS news agency, a diplomatic source did not rule out the possibility that the ministers will travel to Vienna on July 5.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters on June 30 that “the situation at the negotiations on Iran's nuclear program is progressing in the right direction.”
It is not technical but procedural issues that remain unresolved, including paperwork and presenting the agreement to the UN Security Council, Russia's top diplomat added.
“We have every reason to believe that this result is entirely achievable and have instructed our subordinates to make efforts to quickly reach an agreement,” Lavrov stressed.
“I came here to get a final deal and I think we can do that,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
Since June 24, Iran and the international mediator group P5+1 have been negotiating to agree on the content of the final comprehensive document that puts many limits on Iran's nuclear program in exchange for the removal of all current sanctions against Iran.
