According to SOHR, sources said IS beheaded many members of the al-Sheitaat tribe in Deir al-Zor province.
IS militants have seized large areas of Iraq and Syria since storming the Iraqi city of Mosul in mid-June. The group has carried out torture and killings in areas under its control.
Last week, IS militants reportedly killed at least 500 people, including women and children. Some of the victims were buried alive.
The threat posed by IS has forced 130,000 Iraqis, many of them Yazidis, to seek refuge in Kurdish-controlled areas. About 40,000 Yazidis are believed to be trapped on Mount Sinjar in northern Iraq and are in dire need of food and water./.
