IS changes its strategy of expanding into the world
(Baonghean.vn) – “IS is globalizing” (The Guardian), “Daech begins new attack strategy abroad” (El Pais), “Terrorist group wants to wage war on all countries participating in the war in Syria and Iraq” (Suddeutsch Zeitung)... After the November 13 event in France, world media said that IS is changing its strategy.
The New York Times described the Islamic State as a dark force that forced American and European counterterrorism authorities to reconsider their thinking about terrorism.
The New York Times continued, the series of attacks in Paris “revived haunting images of planned, coordinated attacks that left scores of people dead.”
The BBC compared it to “what Al-Qaeda did in 2000” with the 9/11 attacks, the Madrid and London terror attacks.

The sophisticated organization and coordination in the series of three recent consecutive attacks that IS or its foreign affiliates have claimed responsibility for have raised concerns in the world about the unprecedented globalization of this form of terrorism. These are:
The crash of an Airbus 321-200 of Russian airline Metrojet in Sinai, Egypt on October 31 killed 217 passengers and 7 crew members.
Twin bombings in a southern Beirut neighborhood on November 13 killed at least 43 people and injured 239.
A series of attacks in Paris on the evening of November 13 left 129 people dead and 352 injured.
Many international newspapers believe that IS may be carrying out its final plan - Spain's El Pais newspaper mentioned "the second phase in the mission to develop Daech after capturing territory: creating a branch operating outside the territory".
The BBC said the change in IS strategy was due to the growing presence of Kurdish forces on the border between Türkiye and Syria, which has reduced or stopped the flow of IS recruits. As a result, recruiters have turned directly to encouraging their extremist followers to stay and plan attacks in the country rather than make the dangerous journey to Syria.
“Most of the people appearing in IS videos are wearing masks, because they may have been sent to Western countries,” said international expert Rohan Gunaratna.
