A night raid was carried out by the Israeli air force, Damascus airport was hit by missiles, Syrian air defense continued to be helpless.

According to RT, a warehouse at Damascus International Airport was destroyed after an Israeli air raid on the night of January 12. Several missiles managed to get past the air defense system and destroy the targets.

According to Sputnik, citing the Syrian state news agency SANA, "At 11:15 p.m. (local time, 3:15 a.m. on January 12, Vietnam time), Israeli fighter jets approaching from the Galilee (northern Israel) launched several missiles at a target located on the outer perimeter of Damascus International Airport. Our air defense forces responded immediately, intercepting the incoming missiles."

The information provided by SANA is completely contrary to previous reports of damage. Syria confirmed that no missiles were able to penetrate the Syrian army's air defense net in this airstrike.

However, the Times of Israel reported that although Syria claimed to have intercepted most of the missiles launched from Israeli aircraft, people still witnessed many explosions accompanied by flashes of light in the Damascus airport area.

The warehouse that was hit is suspected to be a weapons storage facility for the Syrian army. However, it is not known whether the warehouse was being transported to the army in the field or to anti-Israeli forces operating in Syria. The Israeli newspaper confirmed that the warehouse was completely destroyed.

The latest information from Almasdar newspaper said that not only the warehouse at Damascus airport was destroyed, many other locations were also hit by missiles. At least 4 Israeli fighter jets (presumably F-16) participated in this airstrike.

The warplanes took off from Israeli territory, flying from the direction of northern Palestine and southern Lebanon. These planes launched 8 missiles and 4 glide bombs targeting Damascus international airport.

This attack is believed to be smaller in scale than the last attack on December 25, 2018. In the previous attack, Israel said it launched 22 missiles and carried out airstrikes for nearly 1.5 hours.

This time, Israel attacked and retreated quickly. The flight path of last night's raid was similar to the previous experience on December 25, 2018. It seems that Israel has found an effective attack route into Damascus, while Syria has not been able to actively defend against Israeli attacks.

The attack on the night of January 11 showed that Israeli raids were very accurate and effective. There were no reports of civilian casualties or vehicles being destroyed. The Damascus civilian airport was not affected by the attack.
