Despite a less than impressive pre-season, Juventus have shown that they are serious contenders for the title race this season, beating Lazio 4-0 in the Italian Super Cup. Striker Carlos Tevez made his mark with his first official goal for his new club.

The Argentine rookie was brought onto the field by coach Antonio Conte right from the start of the match, partnering Montenegrin striker Mirko Vucinic.

Juventus were at a disadvantage in terms of personnel in the 21st minute when midfielder Claudio Marchisio was injured. But fortunately, just two minutes after coming on to replace Marchisio, young midfielder Paul Pogba scored the opening goal for Juventus.

The second half saw the "Old Lady of Turin" flourish as they scored three goals in just five minutes. Chiellini, Lichsteiner and Carlos Tevez shone in three counter-attacks in the 52nd, 54th and 56th minutes, bringing a 4-0 victory to Juventus.

This victory helped coach Antonio Conte's team win their first title of the season, thereby temporarily forgetting the disappointment at the International Cup and getting ready for the new season.

"This result does not surprise me because I have faith in what Juventus has. We will continue to make history in the new season" - coach Conte said.

This weekend, Serie A will officially open, reigning champion Juventus will open their title defense campaign with a match against Sampdoria./.
