The Daily Star quoted a South Korean official as saying that the country's military will establish a new combat unit, the core of which will be armed drones, to counter the threat from North Korea.
South Korea calls this army "dronebot", a combination of the words "drone" and "robot".
These robots can be equipped with explosives and act as suicide attacks on important targets, including North Korea's nuclear facilities.
“The military will establish a special unit to develop flying robots. This robot army will be ready for combat next year, fundamentally changing the situation on the battlefield,” said a South Korean military official.
In peacetime, the flying robot army would be limited to reconnaissance of key North Korean targets such as missile and nuclear sites.

This information appeared in the context of North Korea declaring the completion of its nuclear development program, successfully manufacturing intercontinental ballistic missiles with range to reach the US.
The Hwasong-15 missile that North Korea test-launched on November 29 can fly up to 13,000km and can be equipped with multiple nuclear warheads to attack multiple targets simultaneously.
North and South Korea are technically still at war. The 1950-1953 Korean War ended in an armistice, not a peace treaty.
