Sneaking into a luxury villa in the Ciputra urban area (Hanoi), the robber threatened the female homeowner, used handcuffs to lock her hands, and then forced her to read the code to open the safe.

At the Bac Tu Liem District Police Station (Hanoi), robber Nguyen Van Viet (35 years old) confessed that he and his friend opened a wedding organization company, but the revenue was not enough to cover expenses because he had to support his wife and children in the countryside and "take care" of his mistress who was living with him.

Staying near the Ciputra urban area, around 8am on November 4, Viet rode his motorbike in to investigate and discovered a woman taking her child to school, forgetting to lock the gate. Sneaking up to the 2nd floor and meeting the female landlord who had not yet gone to work, he immediately pulled out a gun, pointed it at her head and controlled her.

He used a number 8 lock to handcuff the businesswoman to the cabinet handle, then tied her with tape. After forcing the homeowner to read the code to open the safe but not being able to take anything, Viet left after robbing 4.5 million VND, two phones, and threatening to kill the whole family if they called the police.

That same evening, Viet sold the confiscated iPhone 6 Plus for 7.3 million VND. He planned to send the remaining phone to his wife in the countryside to use.

On November 8, Viet was arrested. At his rented room, the police confiscated a pellet gun and handcuffs.
