Extending the working time of lecturers who are professors and doctors

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien NhanrequestThe Ministry of Education and Training urgently completes the development and submits to the Government and the Prime Minister for promulgation of documents detailing and guiding the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Higher Education, including specific regulations on extending the working time from retirement age, for teaching and scientific research for lecturers with doctoral degrees, lecturers with the title of professor, associate professor working in higher education institutions.

Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training announced to widely collect public opinions on the draft decree "Detailing and guiding the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on University Education".

This draft stipulates that lecturers with doctoral degrees, lecturers with the title of professor or associate professor who are teaching and conducting scientific research at public higher education institutions and reach retirement age may be considered for an extension of their time to do teaching and scientific research (referred to as working time) at educational institutions.

Extending working hours is done when the university has a need and the lecturer volunteers and has enough capacity to meet the requirements of teaching and scientific research.

Lecturers with extended working time are part of the University's permanent staff. During the extended working time, the lecturer is entitled to receive salary and benefits according to the current salary scale and grade, and is considered for a salary increase according to the regulations and benefits received before the extended working time. During the extended working time, the lecturer does not hold a leadership or management position.
