World Cup 2014 draw results: England vs Italy

According to the official FIFA draw results, Italy is in Group D with England and Uruguay while Germany faces Portugal.

On the night of December 6, FIFA held the draw for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil. After the introductions about Brazil and the countries participating in the finals, the draw took place in a rather complicated process.

The way the groups are divided so that there are no two South American teams in the same group or three European teams in the same group has forced many big names in world football to meet each other right from the group stage.

Speaking at the draw ceremony, FIFA President Sepp Blatter emphasized: "Football in particular and sports in general are the bridge that connects us all, bringing us closer together, regardless of skin color, religion, or nationality. We wish the 2014 World Cup a great success, wishing all of you good health, happiness, and an ever-increasing love for this wonderful sport."

FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke, along with world football legends Geoff Hurst, Cafu, Fabio Cannavaro, Zinedine Zidane, Mario Kempes, Fernando Hierro, Lothar Matthaeus and Alcides Ghiggia, drew lots to divide the groups.

According to the official draw, Brazil will face Croatia in the opening match of the 2014 World Cup, in the same group with Mexico and Cameroon. Meanwhile, in Group B, the 2010 World Cup final will be replayed when Spain is in the same group with the Netherlands. This match will definitely be very attractive because they have to compete for the top spot in the group to avoid Brazil, the team most likely to win the top spot in Group A.

Group C is quite simple with representatives from Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast and the representative from Asia, Japan. However, the two leading teams of this group will face many difficulties in the next round because in Group D, the group of death of this World Cup with the names Uruguay, Costa Rica, England and Italy.

Group D with 3 world champions and a total of 7 world gold cups will be the most difficult group of this World Cup.

Group E is considered the easiest group of the tournament with the names Switzerland, Ecuador, France and Honduras. Although the French team had a hard time in the qualifying round, the lucky draw put them in an uncomplicated group.
