Champions League results and last night's friendlies

There were no big surprises in the first leg of the third qualifying round of the Champions League last night when most of the big-name teams like Lyon, Zenit St Petersburg and PSV Eindhoven all won.

While PSV Eindhoven and Lyon comfortably won at home against weak sides Zulte-Waregem and Grasshoppers, Zenit Petersburg beat Nordsjælland, who were in the group stage two seasons ago, on a trip to Denmark.

Meanwhile, in a series of friendly matches, Barcelona were surprisingly held to a 2-2 draw by Polish team Lechia Gdansk. Notably, this was the debut match of Brazilian striker Neymar. The former Santos striker only came on the field in the 78th minute and did not leave a strong impression.

In other notable matches, Borussia Dortmund won 3-0 against Würzburger Kickers, Bayer Leverkusen was held to a 1-1 draw by Kaiserslautern, and Newcastle defeated St. Mirren 2-0.
